Process

Got a call from a recruiter as they were hiring for their Android flagship app.

First round was a 1 hr 30 minute HackerRank pair programming.

10-12 Android hitters followed by a live app coding with the developer.

He was very helpful and helped me with clear and proper instructions. The whole pair coding went very smooth, and I was able to proceed to the next round.

Then came the 45 minute follow-up with another tech lead. This was very disappointing.

Whatever he asked, I was able to answer everything, but he focused so much on jargon and terminologies only. I literally went WTF? during the interview.

Like, if he asked me a problem, I was able to explain him how to solve it, but he didn't care about that explanation or the workflow; he cared much more about what that terminology is called or what its definition is.

Like, who cares?? If I am able to explain the whole workflow and process, nobody cares about the terminology or definitions.

Nobody is cramming what a terminology is called in Android, like, for real.

I was very disappointed at some point and wanted to just exit the call, as the dude just went on looking for crammed definitions or memorized answers that match the textbook.

Gotta do better with your interviewers.
