I had approximately four phone interviews with people at different levels in the business over the course of a few months. These went well. They then flew me over to California from the UK for the face-to-face interview, which they suggested was more of a formality.

Upon arriving, however, the HR contact I had been speaking to was not in, the hiring manager had taken holiday, and others who had interviewed me by phone and were supposed to interview me on the day were also not available. They found different people from the office to fill in and interview me.

This was not great, considering I had flown around the world and taken a week off work to be there. It was very poorly organised and they did not respect what it cost me in time and money to be there. They covered flights, two nights' hotel, and an Uber, but nothing else – for example, transport to the airport and parking in the UK, food, etc.

Furthermore, I stayed five days longer at my expense to try and work out where I might want to live, as I was under the impression I would be getting the job.

I did not get the job in the end, which was very disappointing given they suggested on the phone that the in-person interview was just a final formality. I never even saw the hiring manager.

A lot of general experience questions about injection mouldings, etc.

Also a lot of engineering fundamental questions (on both phone and in-person interviews) on stress in beams, etc.
