After applying online, I was first contacted by a senior recruiter. This was followed by three weekly phone interviews, each with a different team lead: Crash, Safety, and Validation. Eventually, they invited me onsite for an interview with the Validation team.
The phone interviews were highly technical, focusing purely on physics and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
Onsite, I had five interviews back-to-back over four hours, each lasting 45-60 minutes. Although I studied mechanical engineering, a surprising 60% of the interview revolved around the fundamentals of electric motors, batteries, and related topics. I was surprised by this and lost some confidence early in the day. However, the interviewers were all supportive and friendly. While I didn't perform as well as I'd hoped, I had a positive experience at Lucid HQ.
Three days later, a recruiter called to inform me that they would not be selecting me due to a lack of experience. This makes sense, as Lucid is a startup and no one has time for extensive training. If you can't hit the ground running from day one, you're not very useful to Lucid. As a fresh graduate, I wasn't qualified enough.
I did receive good feedback about my interviews, learned more about the industry, and have maintained connections with the recruiter and a few of the interviewers.
Different losses in electric motors and batteries,
Pre- and post-heat-treated stress-strain curves of a metal,
Fundamentals of the gearbox,
Fundamentals of basic metrology,
Natural frequency and how to avoid resonance in structures,
Fundamentals of heat transfer,
And talking about past job experiences (which I didn't have).
