Process

I applied online in Seattle and reached out over email for a tech screen before they did anything else. The tech screen was a nightmare. The interviewer didn't seem to care; he was 15 minutes late and was eating in the background.

He didn't ask any questions about my background or what I was interested in, jumping right into the question. He also didn't provide any background information on the problem and didn't know how to use the shared coderpad.

My biggest issue was that he more or less told me I didn't need to do anything but solve the question. While jumping right into the question is fine, the point of a tech screen is to judge my skills and how I solve problems. I'm not sure how he could do that without engaging with me at all. I don't understand the point of being on the phone without him saying anything; they could have easily sent me a HackerRank, and it would have been a better fit.

Overall, I probably won't be applying to Lyft again. I was thoroughly disappointed with how unprofessional and frustrating the experience was.
