Pros: The Mathworks is a very well-organized software company. I worked there for over four years. The founder is still very active and cares dearly about the company. The company hires a lot of smart graduates and has a very methodical approach to ramping up these newly hired employees to get them ready to join other parts of the company. All in all, a very well-run company. The company pays special attention to training its employees not only on technical matters but also on non-technical matters, such as negotiation skills and presentation skills.

Cons: There is some level of complacency because of the lack of strong competition. Required improvements or features are not put into a product as fast as they could be. Back when I was working at The MathWorks, there was a lot of conflict within a portion of the development team, but there did not seem to be swift action in addressing the conflicts.

Pros: The company respects employees. It's a great workplace.

Cons: Low salary, constructive, and hard to transfer.

Pros: Work-life balance is great!

Cons: Unclear career path, unclear performance measurement.
