Applications Support Engineer Interview Experience - Chicago, Illinois

Process

I had a phone screen with basic HR questions, followed by a half-hour technical interview on the phone.

The system they used was miserable, as it was meant to be a chat box for product help. The interviewer would type code in the chat box and ask me to reply with an answer on the phone, not by typing anything.

It was hard to scroll up and down to see the code on the screen. Several other questions were fired every five seconds, and the interviewer didn't give me much time to think. These were all basic theoretical programming questions, like the difference between public, private, and protected.

The round involved two interviews in languages of my choice; I picked Java and C++.

At the end of it, she said she would get back to me and hung up. I have no idea who she was or what her work entails, and I didn't have the opportunity to ask any questions at all.

Questions

Most of the C++ questions were pointer-based.
