Process

First, there was an HR phone interview. It was very simple, just some behavioral questions. Then, I had a technical phone interview that lasted about an hour. The interviewer asked questions one by one. All the questions were very basic but detailed.

1. DSP:

  • What are IIR and FIR? What's the difference? Given an example, judge whether it is IIR or FIR and explain why.
  • What is a z-transform? The interviewer gave me a sequence and asked me to find its z-transform.
  • Given a sequence, judge whether it is stable or not. Explain why.
  • What is the relation between the unit circle and stability?
  • I do not remember other questions, sorry!

2. Math:

  • Calculate the eigenvalue and eigenvector of a given 2x2 matrix.
  • Calculate the inverse of a given 2x2 matrix.
  • What is the null space of a given matrix?
  • I do not remember other questions, sorry!

3. C:

  • What is a pointer?
  • What is typedef used for?
  • What is the difference between malloc and new?

4. Matlab:

  • How do you merge two strings?
  • What is the difference between a function and a script?
  • How do you access a variable hidden in a function?

Good luck!
