The interview had 6 stages.
HireVue HR interview: Basic behavioral questions. Prerecorded video answers to basic questions about EDG and MathWorks.
HackerRank coding challenge: This challenge had 3 sections. One section was mandatory, and candidates had to pick one more out of the remaining two. Section 1 included statistics questions (probability), easy/medium math questions, and matrix operations. Section 2 featured typical LeetCode easy and medium questions. Section 3 consisted of multiple-choice MATLAB syntax questions.
Technical Phone Interview: This interview lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. The first part involved reviewing the HackerRank coding challenge, explaining solutions, or discussing potential improvements. The interviewer asked many questions about my resume and projects related to MathWorks products. The final questions tested my understanding of Python data structures.
Manager Interview: This was a behavioral interview. It was pretty laid-back and fun. I asked good questions to the manager and showed enthusiasm.
HR Check-in: A brief 15-minute interview to see if I had any unanswered questions. It wasn't really an interview but was helpful and informative.
On-site Interview (Virtual): This lasted for 4 hours, including breaks. It had 4 stages: Technical interview (2 hours), Manager interview (45 minutes), and HR interview. The technical interview was similar to the previous one but more detailed, with in-depth questions. The questions revolved around coding challenges, control theory, partial fractions, basic calculus, and resume topics. The manager and HR interviews were both behavioral. HR interview questions included common behavioral questions (strengths, weaknesses, teamwork, etc.).
They are very good at following up after each interview, usually taking less than 2 business days to hear back after each stage.
The next step was a phone call from HR informing me of the job offer. The offer came a week later, after the completion of the background check.
