Process

The head of the team called me for a one-hour phone interview. The questions mainly came from C++ and Matlab. These were not coding questions, but conceptual ones, followed by some standard questions: where do you see yourself in 5 years, strengths, weaknesses, etc. They were pretty basic.

The C++ questions were very simple, mostly asking to explain concepts like polymorphism, OOP to a layman, the difference between ++i and i++, and how switch-case works.

From Matlab, the questions focused on matrix manipulation and what I disliked about Matlab and would want to change.

Questions

What is polymorphism?

Explain OOP to a layman.

Explain how switch case works.
