Great employer if you are not in EDG.

Pros

MathWorks has some very interesting areas that they work on. The work environment outside of EDG is great. Work-life balance is respected. EDG could be a good way for non-CS majors to get a foot in the door in the tech industry.

Cons

In EDG, your career is put on pause while you essentially continue to search for jobs at the company.

Technical support is a BIG part of EDG (often more than half the work!). Interviewers are generally not upfront about it.

You spend two weeks on a project, then two weeks focused on technical support. This slows down progress and feels extremely inefficient.

While MathWorks does not officially do mass layoffs, if they want to reduce headcount, EDG feels the squeeze.
