Pros
  1. Good work-life balance. I never had to spend any weekends for work.
  2. Good projects to work on. I could work on some interesting projects during my time with the Embedded Targets team.
  3. Good work environment and learning opportunities. Colleagues and managers were very friendly and helped me to improve my skills. They were always open to knowledge sharing.
  4. The EDG program gave me the opportunity to work with multiple teams and later on transfer to a team of my interest. This was really helpful, since as a fresher out of college, I got ample time to understand the teams and decide which one to join.
  5. Good profit sharing (bonus) with employees.
Cons

Compared to the Natick (US) office, the office facilities are not up to the mark. With more recruitment, the office space became crowded. Office stationery was also very limited. The canteen had very few food options.

Advice to Management

What you are doing good:

Overall, I felt that the management team is doing quite well. MathWorks managers are good tech-leads and are very approachable. They take their engineers' interests also into account while allotting projects.

What can be improved:

Significant discrepancy between starting salaries of new recruits. Despite their good interview performance, the packages offered are widely different depending upon the college from which they are hired. This can demotivate the employees. It is fair to let the interview performance and academic performance be a deciding factor for salary package. But it is unfair to pay some good performing candidate lesser, simply because she was an off-campus recruit.
