The hiring process was very methodical and quite good. I was interviewed for a technical lead position and received an interview call through a consultant.
The process involved the following stages:
The HR representative was very cooperative and remained online throughout my entire US interview.
Finally, a local HR interview took place, after which I was selected.
The first round was a telephonic interview that was simple. It included some basic C++ questions with practical scenarios, such as how I handled specific situations.
For example, during an interview for Windows Internals, I was asked how I would debug a particular problem and how I fixed it. There were also C++ questions on inheritance.
The second round was a direct hands-on session. I was given a PC and asked to implement a stack and a queue using linked lists within approximately one hour. I completed this task.
The third round was more interesting. I was asked to design a data structure for a specific situation (I don't remember the exact situation) and explain my choice of data structure. The interviewer seemed to be a manager (not the hiring manager, but someone who evaluated me generally, including some puzzles).
The fourth round was with someone from the US and focused on behavior and attitude regarding teamwork and conflict resolution within a team.
The fifth round was with the hiring manager and HR. It covered pretty standard topics, such as team structure and the advantages of working at McAfee.
