I started with my self-introduction, then shared more about my experiences. He brought up the experiences of his acquaintances, which he believed were similar to mine. He then tried to draw parallels, insinuating that the difference in outcomes (between me and his acquaintances) was because I was not hard-working and proactive enough. I felt uncomfortable that my experiences were judged based on someone else’s. It was really unprofessional of him to do that.
He was also beating around the bush with his questions. He asked a very generic question and said that my answers to it were performative, boring, and typical, wanting to hear something different. Towards the end of the interview, he revealed what sort of answers he was looking for. Turns out, they were, surprise, just as boring and typical. And honestly, they would have been answers I could have given if he had been more specific with his questions. It was a very unpleasant experience.
