Process

I applied through LinkedIn. The interview was through Zoom. There were a total of 2 rounds of interviews. They were looking for candidates who had done analog design internships. One has to be thorough in CMOS Analog electronics, from Razavi, covering basic semiconductor physics to frequency compensation.

Questions

Draw MOSFET I_D vs V_GS and V_DS characteristics.

Draw a simple NMOS current mirror. What are its disadvantages and how do you overcome them? What is the new topology and swing across the output node? And another topology if you have any problem with the current topology. They also asked about sinking current mirrors.

Single-ended CMOS-based differential amplifier operation:

  • Mark inverting and non-inverting terminals.
  • Derive the expression for gain and output resistance.
  • And its poles and zeros.

Draw a two-stage CMOS amplifier:

  • Explain its operation.
  • Derive gain and output impedance.
  • Number of poles and zeros and find them.
  • Comment on stability.
  • And frequency compensation.

Few questions on LDO and Bandgap reference.
