Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

There are 4 different interviews for this position:

  • First one was a typical screening
  • Second a coding quiz
  • Third a meet and greet
  • Fourth a 4.5 hour virtual onsite that included two more technical interviews

Coding quiz used their API sandbox and a database schema question.

During the 4.5 hour onsite, interviewers showed up late and swapped interviews. Since they showed late, I therefore had less time to complete the coding exercise. This put me at a disadvantage and therefore I had to use all available time. This was one of the reasons I was given for not being hired.

I was also asked the exact same question by every interviewer: "Why Modern Treasury and tell me about yourself". This interview could have been cut down to 2 hours if they did a panel. By the end of 4.5 hours I was exhausted and bitter about the attitudes and chaos of the interview process.

I am happy I didn't get the position because something tells me that their nitpickiness extends beyond just the interviews. Sam was a nice guy though.
