I only completed a phone screen and a first-round technical interview.
During the phone screen, it was clear the interviewer had no clue what a software engineer does or what the role entailed. They seemed to be just repeating words and phrases they had been told to ask about. For example, they kept asking about mutexes, but my previous work involved parallelizing work and removing mutexes from the codebase, which is a more complex task.
They only moved on after I gave up and said, "Yes, I've worked with mutexes."
What is a mutex?
