Excellent WLB - the company and managers are serious about it. The unlimited PTO policy works out to 4-5 weeks off per year, in addition to one-off days off around long weekends, etc., which is great!
Coworkers - everyone is very cordial and welcoming. It's a great bunch of folks to work with, and it seems like the company indexes heavily on culture-fit in its hiring process.
Compensation - for top performers, only FAANG pays more, and not by much considering Facebook and Amazon's pathetic WLB. Extremely competitive pay.
It's hard to progress. Performance management, in terms of promotions, is completely broken in engineering. Some teams have people who are stuck in the same position for years, while other teams are running roughshod, promoting left and right, which is extremely frustrating. Management has accepted that performance management needs improvement, but other than using a different tool for filling out performance reviews, this hasn't amounted to much. If titles are important to you and you are relatively early in your career, I'd stay the hell away. There are also many 'company people' who have been around for years and don't plan to leave, so there isn't much opportunity for growth beyond a certain point.
Please effectively communicate your promotion policy in engineering. Focus on providing equitable access to projects and opportunities that can result in career advancement.
The interviewer was unprofessional and verbally told me off. He/She stated that they'd never met a candidate like me who hadn't researched the company. It was 100% my fault, but I believe there was no need to verbally berate me over the phone at 9 A
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. The interview process was standard and well-structured, consisting of a recruiter phone screen, a hiring manager chat, coding assessments, a system design round, and a behavioral interview. Ov
Terrible interview process. The position was already low-paying, and half the interviewers were pompous or incompetent. During my system design interview, the interviewer gave me a vague question and refused to provide further clarification. I propo
