Pros
  • Work-life balance is good, although it also depends on your team and manager, but overall people respect your time off and logging off work.
  • Industry discounts with other brands.
  • Used to have good co-workers.
Cons

The company has gone from good to awful, which aligns with the stock price. Good co-workers and peers either got laid off or left the company. The current CEO only has his eyes for the stakeholders and is terrible at facing any criticism from internal employees, whom he straight out ignores. During the last big lay-off, he was out in the newly established India office celebrating the new opening while employees were being told they lost their jobs.

  • Engineering culture was going somewhere a while ago, and now you're just holding a title with "engineer" in it. They'll keep telling you to "think like a forward deployed engineer," whatever that means, and expect you to fix and find consultants' bugs, meaning you're being used as a janitor to cleanup and fix their mess. Engineers are just some utility workers at this point. Nobody respects your technical input, and nobody really cares.
  • Poor leadership on all levels. Some people stay in the company for over 10 years and aren't contributing to anything, yet they will not be on the lay-off list if you drink the kool-aid and you'll be fine.
  • Product heavy—it's always "the leadership asks for it"—and who is the leadership? Nobody knows. It's like a ghost term that PMs like to use, and consultants are always right, even if they built things that don't work.
  • Favoritism is allowed. You cannot speak up, even though they claim you should always speak up.
  • Constant lay-offs thinking that AI can fix their down-trending stock price. The people who luckily survived every time this happens have to fill in the gaps the company created and be told to work more efficiently.
  • Questionable ethics of signing contracts with a company to use their product and telling employees who work on it not to tell other peers to avoid potential protests.
Advice to Management
  • Need a brand new leadership (managers, directors, and CEO) who are actually competent, actually listen to the people below, and take action.
  • To the CEO who said a layoff is necessary: it is a terrible response while you sit up there doing nothing and took away the company's worldwide vacation in the summer because you think people do not work hard enough.
  • AI is not going to fix your failing culture and almost zero stock price.
  • Do the groundwork right and get it through to the end. Shifting anything halfway through and expecting a better outcome is impossible.
