This was the interaction that has completely changed my once positive image of Nokia. I can't recall any other time when the recruiter was so xenophobic.
I spent a considerable amount of time filling out their nonsensical, multi-page application form, all to be randomly called up by the recruiter to ask the same questions I had filled in.
He sounded very degrading. He was just throwing out the words "it's a base station" instead of explaining what it means and how it relates to their product in question. He went as far as to make a remark that everyone who studied telecom should know that, implying I did not study. My last class on telecommunication was 5 years ago, so it would be reasonable that I wouldn't remember something instantly. Not to mention, knowing what a base station is still doesn't explain how they use it in their product.
Then he said that I needed to send a scan of my diploma today if I wished to proceed. Reading between the lines, he clearly meant that my diploma was not legitimate. There were no requirements to submit my diploma during the painfully long application process, and one of my friends who actually got a job at Nokia recently said there was nothing of the sorts. If the company truly needs to have proof of study, I believe they should contact the university specified in the CV; that way, nothing could be fabricated.
Besides, he specifically said that I needed to send a scanned version of my diploma. Where in the ever-loving God would I get a damn scanner? Apparently, I needed to abandon all my plans for the day to find my diploma and find a scanner, be it at the library or elsewhere.
Also, he asked if I had time, and I said I had about 5 minutes. Instead, it lasted for more than half an hour.
In the end, he told me that he would send me the email through which I could reach him and send the required documents. I never received it. He simply ghosted me.
TLDR: Xenophobic, degrading recruiter and possibly unfair recruitment process.
