Pros

Interesting technology, good work-life balance, great starting salary, plus a free cell phone and cafeteria, and a friendly workplace.

There are some very talented seniors to learn from.

Cons

It seems like the only thing that matters is how long you've been in the company, not your overall performance.

If you are relatively new at the company (1-2 years), no matter how greatly you perform, forget about a salary increase or a better position for several years. You will be handled the same as the laziest newcomers.

Another thing is, I personally feel that most developers look down on software testers because they are "just testers." When testers warn them about possible errors, they don't care, but when customers notice those same errors, they often point their fingers at us, saying we should have found these errors.

We have processes, but we often don't follow them; the "quality first" aspect has gone.

Because the company doesn't have any pursuit to keep good performers, they often leave after 1-2 years. Then, they start a mass-hiring period when a lot of newcomers join, and then the good ones will leave again. It goes on and on in a loop.

Management seems to only care about headcount, not overall performance.

Advice to Management

Do not make such hectic decisions. Pay more attention to keep talented employees. Get rid of useless people who just pull the others back.
