Process
The whole process took 4 weeks. The recruiter contacted me two days after I applied. The entire process had 6 rounds:
- General OA
- Phone screen based on domain knowledge
- 4 back-to-back rounds with breaks
After the initial two interviews, the recruiter provides feedback on your performance to help you prepare for the next rounds. The interviewers are punctual and professional; they do examine the length and breadth of the interviewee's knowledge. The recruiters are very supportive and responsive to queries, and everyone has been prompt in their responses. This has been one of the best and most inquisitive interview processes I have experienced.

Pros: The people here are amazing. A lot of the people I met at the company have become my good friends.
Everyone is very talented and hard-working as well.
Work-life balance is good if you allow it to be. You can fall into the trap of too much work if you sign up for too much.
Flexible PTO. Able to take time off without much/any resistance.
Transparency is relatively high between teams. Not too much bureaucracy and able to work cross-functionally pretty easily.
Although leadership seems a bit isolated from the rest of the teams for some reason.
Cons: Leadership sometimes seems lost, and direction/priorities are constantly changing.
The new company strategy puts Nuro directly against Waymo/Cruise, losing the competitive advantage which existed with Nuro's commercial partners.
Poor prioritization/planning for important milestones.
Software/hardware mesh: there is poor collaboration between hardware/software organizations.
There is even a physical wall between the buildings separating the teams.
Each org tends to be frustrated with the other.
The company feels like it is in survival mode instead of a high-growth company.

Pros: Nuro is a fantastic place to work; we have an open, caring, and inclusive work culture and a collaborative, driven, talented work force. The leadership tries to be as transparent within the company as possible, and feedback is taken very seriously here.
We are trying to solve many interesting and challenging problems, so there's always a lot to do and many growth opportunities.
Cons: There are a lot of projects going on simultaneously at Nuro, so it can be hard to stay on top of everything.

Great engineering culture

Pros: People here are kind, smart, and open to share. The leadership is very transparent about the company's progress. The company also adopts new tools and new workflows very quickly, which means a lot of opportunities to learn and to apply the latest technologies in daily work.
Cons: Not really a con, but just like most startups, the company is very sensitive to the macro environment and markets.
The engineering team also needs to move quickly to support different business requests under resource constraints.
