Engineer Interview Experience - San Jose, California

January 1, 2020
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process included:

  • Phone screening and interview
  • Paper test
  • Two onsite interviews

I've been in the industry for over 10 years. The onsite interviews were mainly high-level and sometimes asked questions irrelevant to the position or my experience. It seemed they didn't know what they were looking for.

There was a lack of courtesy. After such a long process, I would expect to hear feedback if not moving forward, especially since they repeatedly stated everything was positive until the last minute.

They offered the lowest starting salary in the Bay Area, regardless of experience or degree (short-sighted, but I would blame the founders).

Questions

The questions were relevantly easy: draw a CAN circuit, functional safety, testing, etc.
