People I worked with were friendly, helpful, and technically competent.
Fast-moving, not a ton of process or bureaucracy to get in the way.
Modern tech stack hosted in GCP.
Tasty lunch and snacks in the MTV office.
Better working environment, people, and technology than several other companies in the AV space (from what I've heard).
Autonomous driving is a really hard technical problem, one that even large companies like Google haven't figured out. On top of this, and unlike most of the other companies in this space, Nuro is designing and manufacturing its own custom vehicles from scratch, which is incredibly expensive, risky, and time consuming. It all could come out great in the end, but it will take a long time to find out.
Company is very secretive about key business metrics and timelines when talking to potential employees. This makes it hard to understand the risk/reward tradeoffs before signing.
Company has a high valuation due to a large Softbank investment. As a result, exercising stock options is expensive and carries a lot of downside risk.
Workspace in MTV has some issues: software engineers still don't have standing desks, parts of the office are consistently dirty or smelly, and snacks are inconsistently stocked.
SF office is small and doesn't have lunch. It's more of a once-or-twice-a-week stopover than a real office, and you'll still have to go down to MTV most days to get your work done.
Be open and honest with potential employees at the offer stage.
Improve the workspaces in both MTV and SF so that employees are happy and productive at work.
Multiple coding, past project, and ML rounds were part of the interview. The ML rounds focused mostly on basic ML questions and intuitions. Coding questions were not LeetCode-style questions. Past project rounds involved diving into one project
The interview process took roughly two months from start to finish. It consisted of HackerRank and a phone interview. This was followed by an onsite, which had 4 rounds (all technical). The interviewers were friendly, and the coding questions were
The people are friendly, and the whole process moves smoothly. There are three interviews besides an online assessment. The first two interviews are phone interviews. * The first focuses on coding skills, where the interviewer provides a question
