Software Engineer Interview Experience - Japan

Process

I had a total of three phone interviews, all conducted by potential bosses. I ended up being hired to join the first interviewer's team.

All the interviews started with several personal questions, covering my resume and past experiences, my passions, and my personality, before moving into technical questions.

The technical questions were asked in increasing levels of difficulty. If I answered the initial question correctly, the interviewer would modify it to make it harder, continuing until I could no longer answer or until I successfully solved the more complex version.

For the last interview, I had to email the answer to a technical question as complete code. The other interviews only required a clear verbal explanation of the algorithm over the phone.

They did ask the question, "Why do you want to work for Nvidia?" I recommend having a clear answer prepared, being up-to-date on their recent developments, and showing confidence and passion.

Since it's a phone interview, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have key points listed on a post-it note or something similar in front of you. This will help you stay on track regarding why you want this job.
