I personally did not have a good experience in terms of inclusivity and diversity. I was the only female in my team in the Bangalore office. I have just started my career, and my experiences and the questions/doubts they raised about the values of the team and the company left me very confused. I also had no female role models to look up to.
It felt like my experiences were setting an example for the rest of my career that I'll always have to try this hard to feel included as compared to my male counterparts.
I wanted to feel a part of the team. I believe I could be a great team player, but I feel like I didn’t even have a chance. I tried to engage with the team, and many times they continued the conversation amongst themselves and didn’t even respond to my words. I felt very invisible.
I don’t feel like I had any power to change this situation, as I had now tried on multiple occasions but to no avail. It had gotten to a point where being around them was a stressful experience, as I felt singular, excluded, and out of place.
I appreciate the effort to hire more females and improve diversity ratios. I also strongly don't feel like that is enough.
I believe people already at Nvidia need to be more welcoming of females with no inhibitions. Nvidia can conduct sessions for men to challenge their thinking and address women's issues and try to correct the mindset and thinking patterns.
