The litmus test for good engineers is the willingness to listen and, when the conclusion is different than the plan, to change the plan. NVIDIA is full of engineers who are thoughtful and have the capacity to accept change.
The number one goal is always schedule. In pursuit of schedule, decision makers change the scope of work to meet schedule. Sometimes this means useful and important features are pushed to a later generation or architecture. After investing months or years on a feature, it is disappointing.
