There's a lot of redundancy in hiring. This helps with work-life balance, but the downside is that you become easily replaceable, and it's harder to get promoted.
The past 10 years have seen a large growth in bureaucracy. Don't let the company lose its ability to turn on a dime when the business landscape changes. Keep waste low and efficiency high, and don't be afraid to chase new markets.
