Pros

Good salary. Good medical insurance. Interesting projects. A lot of vision. Engineers who have worked here a while tend to be very good. Very informal atmosphere.

Cons

Unrealistic schedules and failure to adjust to changes when projects are late.

Complete lack of attention to work/life balance. You will be working nights and weekends.

Not a lot of "middle" talent. Most people are either very good or very bad, which makes it hard to trust your peers at times.

Disconnect with reality with regards to the size of the software organization.

  • No 401k matching
  • Performance bonus is very small and given out in unvested stock spread across 2-4 years, which makes it pretty much unnoticeable.
Advice to Management

Slow down - most schedules are impossible to meet without burning out the developers.

Clean out the organization - there are too many incompetent engineers and managers, and they just get in the way.

Embrace change - this company is much larger than you make it out to be.

Make sure people that plan releases understand the limitations of software organization.
