To begin with, if Okta folks are reading this, you should be highly ashamed of yourselves for wasting people's precious time. Really, if there were a BBB for companies, I would have opened a claim against you.
I was contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn, as I had applied for this job through LinkedIn itself. I spoke with the recruiter at length, and I was never apprised of the fact that sales experience is a must for this job.
I was put through four interviews over the phone:
One of the interviewers, who happened to be a director or something, did tell me that this job needs sales experience. However, they added that I would be shadowing someone before they put me into the clients' den.
The last phone interview was with their VP, who had no clue as to what she was talking about. She told me that I don't have sales experience, so I am not a good fit for this job. I asked her why the recruiter and other interviewers hadn't brought up that point. She had no answer and said that she would let the recruiter know to consider me for a tech consultant job. "No thank you," was my answer.
I asked her questions like, "Who fixes bugs in Okta software and who makes enhancements?" Her answer to this question was, "We don't write software, we sell software." Yes, I know that, but who fixes it when there is a bug, etc.? She replied, "Architects do." Kudos to the VP of the company.
Then I emailed their recruiter and asked him why he hadn't told me prior that sales experience was a must for this job. He didn't reply at all. How unprofessional is that?
He emailed me on a separate thread that his VP wanted him to consider me for a tech consultant role. My question was still the same as before, and he never replied.
All in all, this company is full of unethical people, based on the impression I got from the interview process.
No tech questions were asked except for what OAuth2, OIDC, and how SAML works.
