They react very quickly after the application, a few days.
Then you have to do the test on Shl which tries to assess your problem-solving ability. The test consists of problems like who lives in which house, rotating shapes etc., nothing special, you just have to be careful, although some problems were very backward. However, you don't have to get 100%, so that should be easy.
After a day or two you get a simple programming assignment, mine was about tree traversal: correct the code, check it with tests. I didn't put much effort into it, did it in one evening; they expect you to take a week for it.
After a few days you get a phone call and you get a chance to discuss your solution with a team leader. You also get the chance to answer some standard questions about your current experience.
After that they invite you for an on-site interview which they schedule for the next day. They seemed very rushed.
There you have a very simple written technical test, such as: reverse the string, and so on. While you have a fairly standard conversation with HR, they check your answers.
Afterwards they come to discuss them. They came across as a bit close-minded to me, they weren't really up-to-date and they preferred standard answers.
Try not to impress them with fancy things and don't overestimate the difficulty of the questions; they might simply have been inattentive when preparing the questions, rather than wanting to test your knowledge of obscure corners.
After that they offer you a few very simple white-board programming tasks, which I failed miserably at. I'm so ashamed that I won't tell you what kind of problem I managed to mess up, but I will tell you that it is very simple and quite standard.
At that point they rightly stopped the interview.
All in all, they were quite friendly, the only annoying thing was the shl.com experience. And if you want to get in there, prepare for the interview a bit and don't do stupid things. That should be enough.
None, it's easy, unless you make it difficult yourself.
