Junior Java Developer Interview Experience - India

Process

I had already served my notice period and had three parallel offers when I gave my consent to sit for the interview.

I managed to qualify both rounds scheduled on the same day.

In both discussions, with HR and the interviewer, regarding the job description, I was told that this was a development role without any ifs and buts.

I told them I could defer my DOJ for my current highest CTC by a week so that they could initiate my onboarding, and they accepted me.

Next week onwards, out of nowhere, I started getting calls from the delivery manager of certain support projects, which I declined politely, citing my preference for the desired role I was being promised at the interview.

They passed my request to the hiring managers, who in turn asked me to wait for a while so they could process it on their end.

I received a call from my recruiter then, asking for my desired CTC. I replied with the same range as I had mentioned during the interview.

Next week onwards, I called them again, and to my utter surprise, they said they didn't have the required budget to hire me, to which I offered to renegotiate and amend my desired range.

Again, the following day, the hiring manager said they were only looking for support requirements right now and that, anyhow, I would have to work in those roles.

To this, I somehow gave my consent to work in a support role, with the only exception being that there should be no mandatory shift timings, as I get mild migraines if my sleep cycle is disturbed.

The hiring manager again promised me to find the apt demand and to call me on the same evening to finally close the deal.

I kept waiting for his call, but nothing happened, and eventually, I started calling him back. He never picked up the calls, despite me calling him multiple times.

Two days later, he simply replied that they didn't have any such demands that could meet my requirements and that I could move on with my other offer.
