Senior Applications Developer Interview Experience - Guadalajara, Jalisco

Process

I was contacted by the recruiter, who explained the interview process to me in a meeting. This started with a code challenge on HackerRank that wasn't very complicated to do.

After this challenge, I was supposed to have contact with someone from Oracle for a code assessment, but there was no further contact for over a month. The vacancy was closed without any extra contact from the recruiter.

A complete lack of respect from the company and the recruiter towards my time. Completely not recommended.

Questions

The code challenge consisted of 2 programs:

  1. You receive an array of tools, the currently selected tool, and a target tool. The function should return the minimum number of steps to reach the target tool. It's assumed that if the pointer reaches the beginning or the end, it wraps around to the opposite side (e.g., beginning -> end and end -> beginning).

  2. You receive an array of strings and must return the number of anagram groups formed by that array (e.g., [ojo, joo, oso, opo] => 3, forming [ojo, joo], [oso], [opo]).
