Process

I received a call from Oracle Noida. At that time, my total work experience was 3 years and 10 months. They scheduled my interview, and I arrived on time.

Initially, all candidates were given the same algorithm questions to solve on paper. I befriended a person with 8.5 years of experience, and we discovered we had been given the exact same problems.

Questions:

  1. Design an algorithm for a music service with millions of songs to shuffle and play, ensuring no song is repeated.
  2. Given the string "st st Hello ThereThere", produce the output: 2[st ]He2[l]o 2[There] (Note: no space between ']' and 'H' as the space is already included within the square brackets).

After a 20-minute wait, a person conducted my face-to-face interview. He asked me:

  1. How I solved the two algorithms, with one being mandatory in the written test (basically my approach).
  2. How to validate a field received from a controller.
  3. Some basic questions on loops and queries.

He then asked me to wait outside. After waiting for half an hour, I went to HR to inquire about my next round, as no one had informed me of my status.

The HR informed me that I could leave for the day :(. I saw the same person leaving with whom I had befriended, the one with 8.5 years of experience.

Out of curiosity, I asked him about his interview questions, as he was also a Java developer with 8.5 years of experience. I wanted to know what they asked him since we were both rejected. I was shocked when he told me they had asked him the exact same questions. I understand that questions can vary by experience level, but these were precisely the same questions, word for word. They didn't seem interested in anything else, and the procedure was very slow.

The best part was that my new friend lived only 2 kilometers from my home, so I got a free ride in his new Creta.
