I applied online through my university in March and was contacted by a recruiter after two months to set up a phone screen. There was probably some sort of COVID-related scramble, hence the long response time.
The phone screen was easy, and the next day I got an email from the recruiter saying they would like to move forward with me. I replied to their email only for the recruiter to tell me that the email sent to me was meant for another candidate and that I should disregard it. I didn't get any information on if I would receive a message actually meant for me, but I assumed the worst.
So, a few days later, I followed up with another email, which was embarrassing to write, to say the least. I got a response a day or so later saying I was denied (obviously).
Perhaps they thought it was okay to treat me like that because I am a college kid, but I found it very rude. Extremely unprofessional behavior.
