Process

I went for the interview. I waited for two hours there, and after that, I was called for the interview.

I can bet the interviewer was taking the interview for the first time and was less experienced. There were two people.

I will tell you the issues in points:

  • They asked me, "Tell me about yourself." I answered. Then they were going through my resume. In my resume, technologies like "Less" and "Sass" were mentioned. I was shocked when they were discussing amongst themselves, asking what these technologies were and that they hadn't heard of them before.

  • For automation test scripts, I had mentioned scripts like "Chai," "Mocha," and "Jest." When they read these names, they started laughing, commenting on how funny the names were.

  • They were not aware that "Grunt" and "Gulp" task runners could be used in an AngularJS project as well. They were asking me whether I had used them or not because, according to them, it couldn't be done.

  • They were not clear about how "Event Bubbling" and "Event Capturing" work. They were confusing "Event Capturing" for "Event Bubbling" and vice versa.

  • I was really not sure whether I was being interviewed or if I was there to teach them about technologies.

I had never imagined that such a big and reputed company would have such unskilled employees and how they could allow them to conduct interviews if they were not skilled or experienced.

Moreover, they didn't even update HR at Oracle that the interview was done. The next day, I received a call from Oracle stating that they were scheduling my telephonic interview for today. After three hours, they called again and asked if I had attended an earlier interview. When I said "yes," HR asked if I could tell her the name of the person, as she had no update regarding this.

I request Oracle, please do not do such things to candidates, as you may lose some of the best candidates, you may lose your reputation, and you should also think before wasting someone's time.
