Pros
  1. Domain-wise good exposure.
  2. Uses most of the time Oracle products.
  3. Good for Java and Oracle database guys, as most of the products are using these technologies.
  4. No delivery pressure, as long as you have a valid justification.
  5. Work from home facility, but again, it depends on your rapport with your reporting manager.
  6. Top management mandates all products to get migrated to cloud-based technologies, but implementation is slow.
Cons
  1. Adoption of new or cutting-edge technology (cloud/big data/machine learning, etc.) is slow.
  2. It's better to bargain for a good salary at the time of joining, as there are very small hikes later.
Advice to Management
  1. Please form a proper plan to have the right mix of talent at the project level. At least have it at the department level.

  2. Many good resources have left the organization because of no hike or very little hike.

  3. If all products have to be migrated to cloud-based technology, hire the right set of people with the right skill sets.

  4. Prepare the talent pool either by training existing employees or hiring some industry experts in the fields of cloud, DevOps, big data, etc.
