Pros

They have some okay benefits. The company has been around a long time, so there's lots of stability. It's also a big company, so you can put a recognizable name on your resume.

Cons
  • With all the paperwork and approvals needed to get anything done, it feels like working with the government.
  • Not very flexible with raises and promotions. If you're ready for a promotion, you may have to wait a year to get it.
  • Tools feel outdated.
  • Not a lot of room for doing your own thing. They want to own everything you do, inside or outside of work.
  • Manager has little power due to layers and layers of upper and middle management.
Advice to Management

Update your tools, cut down on bureaucracy, and find ways to empower employees and their direct managers to reward productivity. A once-a-year pat on the back and COLA will send your best talent to the door.
