Pros

Good work-life balance.

Good pay at the time of joining only.

May issue RSU/Stocks at the time of joining.

Housing assistance/House Rent Security Deposit Advance.

Retirement Separation benefits:

  • Employee contributes 12% of basic salary.
  • Company's contribution to PF is 12% of Basic Salary.
  • Company's contribution to Gratuity: 4.81% of Basic Salary.
  • Employer Contribution towards Superannuation Fund (SAF): Needs to be opted, deducted from your CTC.
  • Employer Contribution towards National Pension System (NPS): Needs to be opted, deducted from your CTC.

REIMBURSEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES MEMBERSHIP FEE: Employees can get reimbursement of membership fees (maximum of USD 500) for a maximum of two professional institutions.

HIGHER EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP: Generally, Oracle India will reimburse up to 100% of the course fee incurred by the employee during the year (up to a maximum of USD 5250 per year).

Medical Insurance: Employee, spouse, and two dependent children (up to 25 years of age) together as a group (ESC) are covered for a total sum insured of INR 800,000 (as a floater). Employees have the option to include parents under the insurance coverage.

RELOCATION: An employee who is required to relocate from another city at the time of joining or upon Internal Transfer may apply for reimbursement of relocation expenses.

Temporary Accommodation: Temporary accommodation would be provided for the employees, spouse, and children for a period not exceeding one month, either at the company guest house or at a hotel identified by the company. Expenses related to members other than the prescribed above would have to be borne by the employee.

Group Personal Accident Policy: Sum Assured: Base plan coverage amount is equivalent to twice the employee’s Annual Gross Pay (AGP) or INR 10,00,000 (10 Lacs), whichever is higher.

Group Term Life Policy: In case of death of an employee, their nominee will be eligible for Term Life Insurance benefit. Base plan coverage amount is equivalent to twice the employee's Annual Guaranteed Pay (AGP) or INR 10,00,000 (10 Lacs), whichever is higher + Accelerated Benefit Option.

Leaves:

  • Adoption Leave: All Full-time Employees adopting children would be eligible for paid adoption leave. The eligibility would be based on the age of the child.
  • Annual Leave/Vacation: A total of 15 working days per year are available as Vacation / Annual leave from work for any reason.
  • Bereavement Leave: An employee may take up to 3 working days of bereavement leave with full pay.
  • Casual/Sick Leave: Employees are eligible for 12 days of Sick / Casual Leave per annum.
  • Examination Leave: An employee who has completed six months of continuous full-time regular employment with the Company is eligible to avail paid leave for the days of the examination for a course pursued by the employee under the Higher Education Sponsorship Policy.
  • Maternity Leave.
  • Paternity Leave: Male employees are eligible to take up to 5 working days of paid paternity leave within 12 weeks of the child’s birth.
  • Medical Leave: Employee may take up to four calendar weeks of fully paid medical leave in a rolling 12-month period, measured backward from the date employee goes on leave.
  • Sabbatical Leave: Sabbatical Leave is an unpaid leave which may be granted for a specified period of time to employees who wish to pursue personal or educational goals.

CTC constitutes of fixed pay + Company's contribution to PF + Company's contribution to Gratuity.

Bonus is outside of CTC.

Gym in campus + indoor (TT, Snooker, Carrom), outdoor games (Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball).

Cons

General very less or no hikes.

No focus on improving any product. For example, Sun was acquired only to sue Google.

No transparency on focal review. Sometimes focal review gets delayed by 6 to 12 months.

HR does not play any role at Oracle. You won't even find HR to be useful.

No concept of normalizing salary for those who are getting paid low despite being top performers.

Internal transfer is very difficult.

It takes tons of time to release an offer because of various unnecessary approvals.

Iteration rate is very high.

Worst Facilities team I have ever experienced in my whole career:

  • Toilets are not clean.
  • You cannot write on whiteboards.
  • No projector in meeting rooms; tons of process to request one.
  • Engineer desks are cleaned very rarely.
  • Cockroaches/rats in the pantry.
Advice to Management
  • Bring transparency to focal review.
  • Fix facilities team. I have never seen any VP, SVP, or EVP using Oracle restrooms. They must use them so Oracle would understand employees' problems.
