A recruiter reached out and asked me to come interview. When you are a prospect in the pipeline, they are super friendly and enthusiastic, but once you don't make it, they usually ghost you. I had a recruiter screen, then a coding and decomp interview. The coding question was really simple, and the decomp was just a high-level system. After that, I took the virtual onsite, which was a decomp again and then a learning interview. The learning interview was a little surprising because they told me I didn't need to prep. I do more AI work and system architecture, but there was an expectation to know specific SQL queries, which I haven't done for a while. So, I was not able to pass this round since it was basically doing SQL queries without actually being able to run the code anywhere. I thought it was unfair because my actual system design and coding were very good, but they ghosted me. It was unprofessional because I didn't apply, and they reached out to me and then randomly never responded again.
