I was recommended by a current employee, and then a recruiter contacted me. I spoke with the recruiter over the phone, and then I was invited for a "phone interview." This interview was actually in person, as they were holding a workshop at my university at that time. The interview question was very easy, so easy it actually threw me off, and I tried making it far too complex.
The worst part was the conditions in which the interview was held. There was loud construction just outside, and the window was blocked by their power cable, so I couldn't close it. While this was partly my university's fault for hosting it there, I couldn't even hear the interviewer properly, and it was very hard to focus.
About a week later, I received a seemingly positive email from a recruiter, stating she would call me the following day. When she called again, she sounded pretty positive and asked for my feedback. However, she then informed me that I wouldn't be advancing further. I would have preferred an email instead of having my hopes raised.
I didn't get a proper question; I only received an example input/output.
