I was not actively looking for a job, but when approached by a recruiter, I found the company interesting and decided to apply.

The first two rounds were very good. I met the hiring manager and another engineering manager. Both were very professional, and I enjoyed the conversations. After those two interviews, I became more interested in the company and started considering moving there seriously.

Following that, there was a third interview. It was okay. The interviewer was an interesting person, and we had a good conversation. However, he was about five minutes late for the interview and didn't apologize, which was a bit of a turn-off as I personally take punctuality seriously.

Things started to turn south after that. I was invited to an HR interview and asked to submit a copy of my residence card, salary slips, and bonus receipts. I was a little reluctant, but I had the impression they were preparing to give me an offer, so I submitted everything they asked for. Later, I found out they hadn't decided to offer me the position and that there was still another round before they would. I consider those documents confidential and regret submitting them, as they didn't extend an offer.

Suddenly, they asked for a CMO interview before the HR interview, right after I submitted all my documents. I provided my availability again. They came back through the recruiter stating the CMO's schedule was packed and they wanted to conduct the HR interview instead. However, they then asked me for more availabilities for a CMO interview two weeks later. I sent my availabilities as requested.

The HR interview was average. They asked the same behavioral questions I had already answered. They made a few random comments about my current company, like why I had worked there for so many years when most people only stay for two or three years. I was surprised by this broad generalization and didn't know how to answer it properly. I was also a bit tired that day, so I feel I couldn't perform well in the interview overall.

After that HR interview, they never confirmed the CMO interview for which they had taken my availabilities. I am a busy person myself, and my calendar is generally packed with meetings. I needed to clear the five slots I had booked for the CMO interview, so I reached out to the recruiter to find out what was happening. I discovered they were moving forward with another candidate but hadn't bothered to communicate with me about the CMO interview.

Nobody should take offense at the outcome of any interview. It's completely fine to proceed with another candidate. However, the fact that they didn't bother to cancel the CMO interview when my calendar was occupied made me feel disrespected.

On average, I felt they have a great engineering culture, and I really enjoyed the interviews with the engineering managers. However, I felt the competency of the HR team was below average, and there are many opportunities to improve their interview process.
