iOS Engineer Interview Experience - Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico

Process

First, someone from HR contacts you by phone to discuss the details of the position.

If you proceed in the process, the first round is an interview with a Karat engineer. This interview lasts one hour.

The first part consists of questions about Swift fundamentals, memory management, closures, etc. The second part consists of three questions that you must solve using a code editor on the platform itself.

I was asked to create a view based on a description I was given (SwiftUI). The second question was to describe what the code presented to me did (SwiftUI) and correct some visual details. The third question asked me to review a SwiftUI view displaying product information, and I had to fix five bugs (both visual and logical).

The Karat platform sent the results almost immediately, but PayPal didn't contact me until a week later to schedule the next tests (both were scheduled for the same day).

The second technical test consisted of creating a functionality similar to NotificationCenter, to add objects that would receive notifications when there was a change in the publisher's state.

In the third technical test, I was asked to implement an API consumption flow to display data on a screen. I could choose between UIKit and SwiftUI.

They did not contact me again after the second and third tests, and they never responded to my emails.
