I applied for the Manager, Software Development 2 position with the PayPal Risk Engineering team. There were four rounds of manager interviews and one round of team member interviews. The experience was horrible. I have summarized my experience for others' reference.

Manager 1:

You are at a specific level in your organization. You are trying for a role change at the same level. Therefore, you can't expect any promotion, even though you are due for one at your current level. The criteria for promotion vary for Manager vs. IC. So, I hope you don't expect a promotion.

Manager 2:

You have applied for Manager SDE 2. However, due to a recent re-org, the position has been filled. Would you like to accept an offer as an IC at the same level that you are now?

Team Member 1:
