Process
Your first logic/approach must be explained. You will be allowed to code only if the interviewer is satisfied. The most optimal solution in terms of time and space complexity is required in the first cut. If you propose a brute-force or sub-optimal solution, you will be asked to think of a better solution, and then you will be allowed to code. If you cannot come up with a solution in 20 minutes, the current question will be put on hold, and the next question will be asked. A thorough understanding of time and space complexity is a must.
