Process

I had four rounds of interviews, and they all went well. The interview panelists were good.

  1. Hiring Manager (Screening): This individual, located in the US, was a very cool person. We discussed everything in detail.
  2. Technical Interview 1: A frontend coding problem related to building a component.
  3. Technical Interview 2: A frontend coding problem.
  4. Technical Interview 3: A coding problem involving array sorting (combined ascending and descending) and finding a number along with its occurrences.

My only bad interview experience was with the recruiter or hiring panel from India. I don't want to name them here, but it took two months to complete these four interviews. They started ghosting.

I tried to reach the recruiter via LinkedIn, email, phone call, SMS, and WhatsApp, but they would never pick up or respond. When I tried calling from a different number, they finally picked up and said my interviews were positive and they would update me on the feedback. The hiring manager needed to connect to provide an update.

Ultimately, I gave up. How long should one wait to schedule the next round? Fed up with such behavior, I replied to one of them:

"I will take this as a No Hire. Thanks **** and ***** for your time. Even if the interviews were positive, as I talked to ***** last Wednesday, I don't want to proceed further. It was a very bad interview experience with no feedback and updates. Candidates have to constantly follow up for weeks to get interviews scheduled and to get updates. I never expected this type of ghosting from recruiters of a top MNC like PayPal. I also have never faced this from any other company."

My advice: Don't waste your time interviewing at PayPal. It was a very, very bad experience and a total waste of time.

Questions

I don't recall the exact questions.

  1. Hiring Manager (Screening) - Normal questions about your current work.

  2. Technical Interview 1 - A frontend coding problem related to building a component.

  3. Technical Interview 2 - A frontend coding problem related to promises. The task was to optimize the code.
