Call with hiring manager looking for role on small ML research team. Asked about experience in computer vision (ignored other experience) as well as an on-the-spot design question for an ML-powered app.

I was asked a simple coding question. I was not on that day and wasn't able to nail the question. Nevertheless, I got 98% of the solution but was tripped up on a single test case with an off-by-one error. I ran out of time trying to debug.

I interviewed a while back. It was an interview with a recruiter, followed by a second round with the hiring manager. They mainly went over my background in engineering.
