Process

I applied through on-campus.

There were two technical rounds within one hour and in the same meeting link, one after another.

HR was connected with us in a WhatsApp group all the time. Those who were unable to clear Round 1 were asked to drop the meeting by HR on WhatsApp.

There was no HR round after the technical interviews.

In the first round, the interviewer didn't turn on his camera, but I did. In the second round, the next interviewer turned on his camera and asked me to do the same.

Questions asked were related to:

  • Linux
  • Git
  • Computer Networks
  • DBMS / SQL
  • Operating Systems
  • Python

Questions

Round 1

  • Brief discussion about my projects, since I used Node.js etc.
    • Questions about Node.js, like: "Why did you use Node.js?"
  • What is MongoDB? Difference between SQL and MongoDB.
  • Linux basic commands like changing file permissions, changing ownership, grep command, cat command, etc.
  • Basics about Git - What is Git and some Git commands.
  • What is Docker and how does it work? (This was asked because I mentioned Docker on my resume).
  • Finally, "Why are you fit for this role?"

Round 2

  • Firstly, I was asked about the SRE role: "What is it and what do you understand about this role?"
  • Some computer networks questions related to DNS resolution, like: "How does the browser work? When we enter a website name, what does it do and how does it fetch data from the server?"
  • "Any internship or project during college that you think is most important for you?"
  • "I want to move my database from one machine to another. How will I do it? Is there a command, or do you need to move it file by file, or is there another method?"
  • "Do you know any scripting language?"
  • Then a basic DSA question in Python: "There are some words written line by line (meaning in one line there is only one word written) in two files, file1.txt and file2.txt. I want to read the files and find common words from both files. How will you do it?" (Note: I was only asked for an approach, not to code this problem).
