Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) Interview Experience - India

Process

My experience with PhonePe has been less favorable. The interview process comprised four rounds:

  • DS/Algo
  • Automation
  • Functional
  • Managerial

Regrettably, the initial rounds assessing programming skills appeared suboptimal. Questions lacked in-depth understanding and were often repetitive, expecting solutions identical to those provided in their answer sheets.

The interviewers struggled to articulate problem statements clearly. Any deviation from their answer sheet required thorough explanation, which contributed to time inefficiencies.

The focus in the functional round predominantly revolved around manual testing, constituting approximately 70% of the evaluation process. The managerial round seemed more procedural, emphasizing adherence to rehearsed responses rather than genuine insights to secure selection.
