The rudest recruiter I've encountered.
I cleared the first coding round. Following this, the recruiter mentioned over a video call that the other rounds would be scheduled after 5:00 PM Dublin time. I happened to mention then that this wasn't ideal for me, as I wouldn't be at my best after my hectic 9-5 job, since coding rounds can be intense and demanding. Just then, without missing a beat, she (the recruiter) said, "You don't have to do this then. You can opt out. You applied for the job. This is not the kind of attitude we're looking for."
I have been in Ireland for several years now and have interviewed for several teams thus far, but I have never seen such a lack of understanding and quick judgment from a recruiter. Even if interviews couldn't be scheduled at a candidate's preferred time, there's no reason to speak to candidates like this. I don't see why a candidate is wrong for trying to negotiate a time that works better for them.
At a time when so many have suffered the brunt of layoffs and desperately want to give their best in interviews, I expect some compassion from big companies like Pinterest.
Anyway, I pulled out of the interview process as company culture is one of the first things I look for. I hope Pinterest fixes the approach such recruiters take in forming the first impressions of the company.
