Started well, ended badly. Two out of three onsite interviewers were literally working and/or Slack chatting throughout my interview. I had to pause multiple times to get them to realize I was speaking.
Each time, they asked me to repeat what I was saying. I declined the offer and am not looking to work with people who can't respect my time for 60 minutes.
Additionally, there was almost no time to ask questions myself. I was really only allotted time to ask questions in the culture interview. In the other four technical (coding/system design) interviews, I was only able to ask about one question in two of them. How would I even know what it's like to work there?
There were two "technical" coding rounds and, weirdly, only one coding round for the onsite, and one system design (which was not a typical system design).
Two interviewers for the technical coding screens were great. They gave me good hints when I was stuck, which really helped. They were attentive the entire interview and provided great questions about what it's like to work at Plaid.
However, the onsite coding and system design interviews were the complete opposite. Both interviewers ignored me when I was getting stuck; they were doing work or slacking. I literally asked the same question twice, and when I didn't get a response, I paused until they realized. Then, they went back to looking at what I did and asking me to repeat myself.
It was a very bad experience, especially given how good the technical coding interviewers were. I would (and did) avoid working here based on that.
